Door stuck

Could someone please help me out. My drivers door is stuck shut, I have never had a problem with it. One day it just wouldnt open, any one have any suggestions?? THANKS

if you search in this forum under "accord door stuck" you will find that it is a problem that happens to accords. The door latch mechanism is broken inside the door and will have to be cut out. Unfortunately the cost of the part alone is about 250 bucks. The cost of the labor is like 200 to 300 bucks.

there is no easy fix or trick. the latch is made of plastic is just breaks with no warning.

Well, before trashing the entire car (or raiding the kids' college fund), you might be lucky IF you can get the door panel off. There are a lot of parts that can break - some cheap.

Stupid question --- I presume neither the inside nor the outside door handles will open the door?

Yes that is correct neither door handle inside or out will work. I dont think I could get the door panel off, just because with out opening the door, its wedged between

It doesn't sound optimistic.

But, as regards the door panel -- that's what I thought, but there was another similar thread a few weeks ago, where the guy said he could get the door panel off after he removed the front seat.

Yes I did read that one. I was also looking to see if that door latch had been recalled. Couldnt find anything though. I guess for now, its Dukes of Hazard style for me!!

I had the one with thte door stuck shut, 90.... Found a latch at a "you pull it" junk yard for $20.00, and spent 3 hours with a 3" cut off wheel and a cold chisel to get the old one off.... It can be done!!

I was quoted $282 for new assembly

The door panel will come off without the door being open, first remove the drivers seat, you then will have access. the door panel is not pinched when the door is shut..

I have a 90 accord four door with the same problem on drivers side.
I can take off the middle panel on the door and get to the door rods. I did this to my passenger side and got that door to open. I have not had time to try the drivers side yet. I do not know what year honda you have but the 90 is a two part door panel. If so...try that first.
