1964-65 215 inline6
last year i picked up a 65 Tempest Custom 2dr PP coupe. the old 215 runs good but it needs to be rebuilt. ive beeen searching everywhere for replacemnt parts for it and only to have turned up a few things. now ur probobaly going to say why not just swap it out for a 326,389. I want to keep this car as close to origional as I can plus i want somthing different under my hood ill build it up some maybe even surprise a few people. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I didn't see this one sooner. The 215 is a smaller-bore version of the Chevy 230. It may be possible to bore it .125" to make it a 230, for which pistons are readily available. Sonic-testing would be the way to find out.
Kanter Auto Parts in NJ will have the correct pistons for the 215. Not gonna be too cheap. All the other parts are readily available through normal engine parts outlets, and fit the 230/250 Chevy. |

65, I don't know. In the business, we only use websites as a last resort. Information can be sketchy, and if the company farms construction of the website to computer experts, much of the automotive information gets distorted or ommitted altogether. We use the telephone. Nothing like talking to someone that actually KNOWS what they're talking about. You'll get much more satisfactory results from the automotive aftermarket if you do the legwork.
