Hub Bearing?

I am looking at this 2001 Cavalier and the mechanic said the hub bearing is slightly loose and fixing them costs $600. Is hub bearing = wheel bearing? And is this problem common and worth fixing? When i drive it, the wheel area makes some clicking sound on rough roads or a bump. Thanks for your help!

Re: Hub Bearing?

This is a common problem but the cost appears to be high. The wheel bearing hub assembly comes as a unit.
Autozone sells teh unit for $71 and a seal costs about 6 bucks. If you have the tools you can repair this yourself. Probably will take you a couple of hours.

Thanks for the info. I would really like to get my hand on the fixing, but neither do I have the tools or a garage.

That's what I would do though after I get a house.
