Re: 97 problems with ignition
You might need to check the battery. Also, you may need to clean the posts and the terminals. If this don't work, you may need to replace the battery, or replace the terminals. Before replacing the battery, run it on a charger. Most chargers have a 40 AMP start feature, which allows you to switch the charger over to that and try to start the vehicle. If the vehicle starts, then it's the battery.

Re: 97 problems with ignition
If it only clicks once each time you turn the key, it is the starter contacts. If there are many clicks each time the key is turned, then it is a power problem (battery, battery terminal connection quality, cables, ground connection quality, starter terminals, etc).

Try the most likely ones first like the other posts have suggested - batteries etc. I had a similar problem once and it turned out that I was leaking oil onto the neutral switch. somehow that was causing some kind of communication problem. I was always able to put it in neutral and start the car though. I think the neutral switch stops you from starting in gear so it would always start when in neutral.
