Any Advice At All PLEASE.....BEGGING

Please if any one has any ideas what-so-ever, even if your not real sure... my passenger side blinkers will light but will not blink and I have already spent BIG $$$ getting things fixed. If anyone has ANYTHING that they may know about this please let me know I would greatly appreciate it. (I have checked all bulbs and had the multi function switch replaced)

i had the exact same problem with mine and it was a loose ground wire.if you open the trunk and remove the molding that covers the power antenna you will see a black ground wire that is screwed to the metal of the car.mine was loose and kind of rusty.i cleaned it up and tightened and the blinkers worked again..i'm not sure if or where the ground wire is for the front of the car,,but start by checking the rear first and see what happens.

my first thought would be the flasher. Maybe that's what you mean by multi-function switch, but I'm not used to hearing that. Its usually in the fuse area. Haven't had this happen on my aurora, but on other cars it acted just like you are describing. I just checked and the flashers for my 98 are attached the the steering column support in the car. They are round. Just pull it out, take it with you to the store and get a new one. Should only be $5-10.

I've already replaced the flasher too. The driver side blinkers are working fine so I don't think that would be the problem anyways. But thank you for the idea!

I'll bet money its a bulb that is shorted out. Take the bulbs out and check, not sure, take one out and replace at a time. I have seen it many times in many vehicles.

OR

It could be a disconnected wire. I just finished fixing this in my motorcycle. Plug came unplugged. Take a test light and test the connections.

If it was a shorted bulb or disconnected wire wouldn't the bulbs just not light up at all then? I am working on it right now and don't see anything abnormal, except that the one side won't blink. The ground wire is fine- the only thing I am seeing is that there is a larger plug by the antenna under the molding that is unplugged and does not seem to have a place to plug into? MAN IS THIS FRUSTRATING!

The large plug by the antenna is probably for the CD changer that fits in the trunk.

Do you have an electrical test light? I'd take out the bulbs, one by one, and use the test light to see if I can see what's going on. Take out bulbs....test signal, ground and use test light...test signal, etc. Electrical stuff stinks...just have to test and try a lot usually. Also, with the flasher in, see if you can test coming out of that circuit and see if it makes your test light flash. The way a flasher works is to heat up the element in the flasher enough to cause it to open and close the circuit. If it's always a closed circuit after the flasher, it certainly is closed at the bulb end too. If the test light pulses after the flasher, then you know the circuit is getting some juice from somewhere else and there may be a short. Also see if terminals/connections for all bulbs are clean and in good shape.

i have the same problem with my car, same side and can't figure it out. Im thinking its the whole turn signal switch on the steering column, i really hope not though. I was also thinking that it could be the relay, and that only a part of the relay broke so only one side works, but everyone I've talked to said that isn't it. but I haven't tried it anyway so I dont know.

Your problems may be stemming from the electrical connection under the drivers side dash. Remove the panel above the brake pedal and you will notice a large number of electrical connections. I have noticed several Roras with connections that are loose or bad. Turn your turn signal on and jiggle the connections to see if it helps. The headlight connection is down there as well so for those of you with problems with intermittant turn signals and headlights, look here as well. If this helps, disconnect the connection and clean it with some electrical contact cleaner and regrease with appropriate grease.
