The 5th gen preludes, both the base and SH models, come stock with the H22a4. The 1997 has 5 less HP i think, but I think it still has the same engine code (somebody back me up/correct me on this?). As for affordable good Hondas, I haven't had much experience, seeing how I'm only 17 and on my first car. However, from all the reading and searching I've done, I'd recommend the prelude and although it's actually an acura, the 94-01 integras. These I'd say are the best, atleast when also considering price.

First of all, he said "best engine suited for the prelude".

second of all, "next prelude" what the fuck are you talking about.

of honda, other than a prelude and comparably priced, i'd recommend an rsx-s. theyr'e fun little little cars like the prelude. better interiors, seats and gearbox in the rsx though.

Re: H224a or a4

yeah i don't know what this "new prelude" thing is....and I'm with ZiggyMidget, I'd recommend the prelude (I'm partial to the 4th gen, 93 and 94 were the two lightest preludes they made) and the 94 and up integra GSR's are pretty quick too.

Re: H224a or a4

Preludes have this nice little thing a lot of Honda's don't, it's called torque. However, this can also be a pain while launching. I'd say choose what you like most between the prelude and integra. Integras have an unbelievable amount of aftermarket support, but the H22a preludes have a lot too. GSR's are pretty quick I've heard, but if you could get your hands on a Type R, idk how you could be unhappy. It's really just which car you like better. Oh yea, and I love the 4th gen lude's "cockpit."

So RSX-s?

so an RSX Type S is just as good as the prelude, but better interior. Well what if you were to change the interior, customize the interior of your prelude and keep it the same. Will the RSX-S still be better than the lude?

Re: H224a or a4

No one can tell you that one has better interior or exterior styling than the other. That's for you to decide. The RSX-S I think is a little bit faster/lighter stock, and it has a 6 speed. Otherwise, go somewhere like www.cardomain.com and just look at the prelude and RSX until you decide which one YOU like better.
