Exclamation Temperature gauge 87' 325i

I am noticing that my temperature gauge hangs around the middle line and the line before the red, last night it was at the line before the red line but didn't go any further, is this a hint that the car could be on its way to over heating?

Re: Temperature gauge 87' 325i

Yes it is, but do these things:
1. Check the radiator to make sure that there is enough fluid, if not, add and monitor it.
2. Check the belts the connect to the water pump to make sure that you havn't lost that belt.
Also, your water pump may be going bad.
3. Your thermostat may be going bad.
For past experiences, most of the time the coolant level was very low and it caused for that to happen.

Re: Temperature gauge 87' 325i

this may not help, I have a 87 325, the gauge was doing the same, going up to the red but not overheating, after checking and checking and not finding anything, I hit the dash and the gauge went back to half, it was just a bad gauge,
