rodeo 4 cylinder engine

I would appreciate any feedback: what is the word out on the 4 cylinder gmc engines placed in the rodeos? Any good? What maintenance upkeep would be ideal to get plenty of miles out of the unit?

Also, I've read from a reliable source Isuzu is leaving the car/suv passenger car market in the USA. Who will do the warranty work after say 2005? Any gmc dealer?

I too have a Rodeo with the Holden 2.2 engine. So far I have almost 35,000 miles on it. The only thing that has gone wrong with the little engine was an exhaust manifold bolt shearing off. My dealer fixed the problem under warranty and sent me on my way. I'm also concerned about this engine as well. My dealer has good things to say about Isuzu products. They sell them along with Chevys. There are always more Chevys hanging around the service dept. than Isuzus and this a high volume Isuzu dealer. The only things I have done so far to the Rodeo is change the oil every 3,000 miles, change the transmission fluid, the rear end fluid, the coolant and a fuel system service. I have had several items have to be replaced under warranty. Isuzu and the dealer gave top notch service with these issues. I have had no problems with warranty service as reported by other people.
It is true that Isuzu is suffering some problems here in the states. It is hard to believe that in other parts of the world that they are very popular. In fact, the Axiom and Rodeo are supposed to cease production at the SIA plant this month.
I am glad to find somebody else who wants to discuss the 4 cylinder engine because most everybody has the V6.

Re: rodeo 4 cylinder engine

even if Isuzu pulls out of the US they will have to continue with warranty repairs untill all vehicles are out of warranty
BUT
I also have a very reliable source who is a zone rep for Isuzu and he says that they will be around and are not planning on leaving the US they are still fighting what is called a chicken tax to get around it so that they can import the P/U trucks that are currently in production
