Euro-R H22 vs. JDM H22A
Ok so I've been looking at engine swaps and I came across a Euro Accord Type R H22 motor for $4000 and a regular JDM H22A for $2200 at hmotorsonline.com. I looked on other sites and found a similar price difference. The only differences I see are 20 more HP, 2 more ft/lbs of torque, a little higher compression ratio and LSD. But all that can't be worth $1800 can it? what other differences are there that make the Euro h22 better?

for the cost the motor itself, i think, is overpriced. you can buy a regular h22 and put less than the difference into it, and make more than a stock euro-r would. although it does have a better tranny.

Is it just me, or is the Euro-R (aside from F20b) basically IDENTICAL to the JDM Type-S besides the color of the valve cover?

I believe the Euro one has a better flowing intake manifold too; hmotors sells that too.

Yeah, they sell it at inlinefour too. But I also see the Type-S manifolds for sale too.
I think the only difference between that two are, one has a blue valve cover, the other has red. One came in the accord, and one came in the prelude.

ok, but how much better is an lsd than a normal transmission. i mean think money conscious here, do you really need an lsd tranny unless you plan on racing a lot or flooring it from a stop type of things? i have heard that lsd helps you take corners better too but i mean, is it really worth $1800?

Re: Euro-R H22 vs. JDM H22A
You can get the regular h22a with LSD for $300 more than without LSD: http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30016 Most sites that sell motor are like that; usually $300 to add LSD. The LSD will help with traction, because you'll have both front wheels grabbing the ground instead of doing the 1 wheel peal. Honestly I personally would get it without the LSD and buy an aftermarket LSD if you really wanted it. I know a few people who did buy the stock LSD trannies and they were beat to sh*t. You should just get the regular one if you're worried about the $, and build on the motor later on if you decide to. I know 20hp isn't worth $1800 more ,when you could spend around there or a little more to build the motor later on and get more than 20 more hp.
