97' monte z34 :: Good buy or NOT?

hey im new, recently me and my dad were buying my kind of first car, my honda got stolen... but thats a differnt story, so we just had a 96' monte carlo, no z34 so i guess it was 3.1 v6, my freinds top out at 105, that sucks! so anyways before we made the deal solid we took it to my bro who is a machanic pluged his comp. into it and it was like transmition componet something, so he guessed with the people he knows it would be like another 1,500$ so i said screw that, now i am looking at a 97' z34... i am wondering if yall would recomend that... or not? So if time, then please reply, oh yah and with no mod's... how fast do you think this one goes? and what would be the cheapest mod's to put on it... thank you!

i put a throttle body spacer on my 2002 SS. i can feel more power in the pedal and slightly increased my milage. i found mine @ performancecenter.com, it was about $100 w/shipping and handeling. if you don't want to spend the money for a cold air intake system, for around $50 you can get a replacement K&N filter

How much are they asking for it? They are pretty nice cars. I would say if the price is right, then get it.

So you figure the spacer is as good or comparable to a simple K & N filter? I put one in and couldn't tell the difference...mind you I am convinced that the 3.1 L was the biggest mistake Chevy made by putting that sewing machine in the Monte. Whatever happened to maintaining the muscle? Nothin beats the 80's models power. i was thinking of r/r my engine with the 3.8 supercharged w/Ram air....after all these cars are supposed to be in the same class as the Mustangs...NOT EVEN CLOSE. The only reputable models I've seen are owners that have added after market performance parts that should be a factory standard. What else have you added and is it worth it?
