Alright two questions,
1. First off I was curious if anyone had ever used or seen the Varad LED lights in a car. I am looking to swap my dome light and four door panel lights for blue tinted lights and LEDs seemed the way to go. Also I am aware the LED lights use substantially less power than standard incandecent lights and sometimes may trip warnings to check the dome light, so if this is the case what can be done. Any stories on how these things really work would be greatly appreciated. You can check them out here: http://www.cardomain.com/shoplist~b~...lacement+Bulbs 2. Now if these lights do indeed work well, i would like to switch out my dash lights (AC temp and power, ect) with the LED lights, however i dont know how to remove enough of my dash to get to the lights. This is for a 2000 Accord EX. So any advice would be welcome. If anyone thinks something else works a whole lot better let me know, Thanks for the help. |

What's the difference between LED lights and regular colored replacement bulbs? Because I'm trying to change my door lights color and I was wondering do I need to know what size and what's the best kind to get. I'm not try to make it brighter, I'm just make it look a lil' better. Thanks in advance.

Re: Swapping the Interior lights
I had my interior lights replaced with LED's and I wasn't satisfied at all. The LED lights are projected straight out the top of the bulb, meaning the only thing being luminated by the LED will be directly in front of where the LED is pointed. I would recommend going to Auto Zone and getting a pack of colored gel sleeves for your current lights.

use a dremel, or some sandpaper; sand the LEDs down until the dome of the LED is flat -the more you sand off, the less intense the llight will be, so don't go overboard;you will have a cone of light that looks much better.
I still do not know if ANY led will be bright enough to replace a dome light, however. I used 6000mcd LEDs on my climate control on my 2000EX and it looks great. The whole center console (climate control, stereo, vents, etc) should pull straight out, but I do not remember if it is held in by 2 bolts under the dash, so do some reading beforehand. Be prepared to do some soldering; and get the right resistors the first time. I had to use surface mount resistors, because inline resistors ended up being to large. sorry for all the edits, i'm at work. |
