Lightbulb RSX Trany Defect

Anyone having problems with RSX's base model transmission should visit http://www.acuradefect.com/ to join a campaign to have Acura/Honda fix the freakin problem.

Re: RSX Trany Defect

What's the problem? Gear grind? If so a huge petition was already launched and to no avail.

Re: RSX Trany Defect

So it is gear grind - a quick remedy is a short shifter. That also is a good performance mod.

Re: RSX Trany Defect

It was not clear to me that the original petition included base models as well as Type-S RSX's. My dealer has recognized a problem with Type-S RSX's, so I'm trying to focus my campaign and get people's sigs to support a fix for the base model. And this petition will not be to no avail. Just keep your eye on www.acuradefect.com and you will see what I mean.

Re: RSX Trany Defect

My dealer, and the company as a whole, does not formally acknowledge any problem. I have signed the petition, but expect nothing to come of it. I wasn't aware that the base had a problem as well.

Re: RSX Trany Defect

Many people have said the short shifter has alleviated the grind so I guess it should work.

Re: RSX Trany Defect

How much grind are you getting? I just bought a new 04 RSX and I've noticed that shifting from 1 to 2, and 2 to 3, the clutch sortof "fits" into a spot not as smoothly as to 4th and 5th.

Re: RSX Trany Defect

Well, I just get a minor grind right there in the shifter when sliding it into gear. I've never had any abnormalities with the clutch.

I have '04 Type S and notice mostly when linkage isnot warmed up and especially at lower rpm that there is not a smooth shift between first and second gears. I have occasionally also experienced a notch or catch in the shfter between second and third. I was told that breakin was needed reagrding the 1-2 gear matter. Have over 5k miles now and still have same catch between 1-2 abd 2-3 gears.
