97' 4runner alarm, problem chirping

Sometimes when i press my alarm lock/unlock button, it chirps and sometimes it doesn't. it still locks but doesn't beep?

I'm starting to have the same problem too. I always wondered what was happening. I didn't think it was a big deal because my doors still locked, so I never bothered asking. Hope someone will come up with a solution because it's annoying sometimes.

Is it a factory keyless entry or an alarm put on at the dealership?
If it has a seperate horn in the engine compartment it's more than likely a loose ground wire to the horn or water damage from water getting in the horn. Check the ground wire probably rusted and not making good contact or get a new horn.
