Transmission Jerks and Engine makes a Whining Sound
Hi
We have a 2000 Chevy Venture. We took it for a drive to the store, about 10 miles, and noticed a heavy jerk to the transmission when we got back on the road. I also noticed a whining sound to the engine. It comes from the side opposite of the engine belt. (around the air filter). The change engine oil light came on, and the transmission filter and fluid should probably be changed. The car is at 59 thousand miles. Hope someone can help. |

This happened to me also. In my case, simply replacing the mass air flow sensor fixed the problem. You need to get the codes read. If the codes show the MAF sensor and transmission codes, replace the sensor first. My dealer wanted to replace the tranny for about $3000. It didn't need replacing.
