1994 Eagle Talon Won't start/Backfires
I have a 1994 Eagle Talon 1.8L 183,000 miles.: This could be 1 or 2 problems: Problem 1.) Car runs ruff when starting from cold start. I have to give it more gas then normal and slowly let the clutch out to get it going after it has sat or cooled down. Sometimes when doing this the car backfires. Once warmed up runs great.. Problem 2.) Now the above problem might have caused this I don't know: Went to the store the other day, when I started the car I had the above problem. Car warmed up,problem went away like normal. Came home turned off car, about 15 min later went to leave again and car would only turn over. Acted like it wasn't getting gas. Went a changed fuel filter, check vacume hose to make sure all were atttached (they were). Checked ECM Module. Seems to be working properly. Check Plugs, Wires, distributor cap and rotor (which all are new 2-3 months ago) seem fine. Getting spark, getting gas at fuel filter. Pulled Fuel Pump out, wired it up directly, blew remaining gas all over, so I'm thinking pump is working correctly. After doing all this, I tried to start the car. Car won't start. But if I hold the gas peddel down while turning over I can get it to start. Runs real ruff dosen't seem to have the correct pressure, and is backfiring like a S.O.B. and if I let off the gas it stalls out. Another thig I noticed if I keep peddel in same position I can watch the RPMs fall.
I'm at a breaking point here!!! Any thoughts or hints? Car ran pretty good before all this..
