I have a 98 Nissan Maxima. It has all the gold emblems but I have no idea whether it is GLE or a SE. Everything is factory on this vehicle loaded with everything except seat warmers. I didn't think to ask when I bought the car I just needed to hit the road. Now I want to buy some rims and some new tires for my car but i don't really know what I have. I called the dealership from where I bought it, (Private Dealership) all they told me it was top of the line but they don't know the difference either. I'm hella frustrated, somebody PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!!!

Re: difference between a 98 Nissan Maxima GLE and SE
Raise your hood. Look for a shiny metal identification tag fastened to the passenger side of the firewall. The top row is the VIN, starting with J. The second row is model information. The first five characters are BLHUL. The sixth character is the trim level designator, defined as follows:
E = GXE G = GLE V = SE Trim level won't affect what rims your car can accomodate. ~THT |

a lot simpler than that man...look at your rims...if u have the 5 spoke 17's than you have an SE. but if u have those other rims than its a GLE.

It's simpler that all of that. If you have an SE your gauges (gas, speed, rpm, etc...) are white. If it's a GLE they're black.
