97 escort cranks but does not start

Fuel pump was replaced but car still does not start. Concerned that no power is getting to fuel pump?? Any ideas as to what could be causing this problem.

You might have jumped the gun. Fuel pump was probably fine. I would look at a bad pump relay, or clogged fuel line.

There are a LOT of reasons why your engine might not start. What led up to this? and what have you checked already?

Check for fuel pressure and check the timing belt, let us know what you find than go from there.

The fuel pump will not run continully when the engine is not running.

I think you were right! We noticed a weird noise from a PCM or ECM relay. We only know that because we wrote the part number down from where we heard the noise and called Ford Parts department. How would we know if we have a bad pump relay or clogged fuel line?

Unhappy Interesting!!

Ive seen alot of similar porblems in the forum as well as having the same problem myself. Ive thought it was the fuel pump for some time now, but after this article im not so sure. I asked the auto tech in my auto class today and he suggested it could be a bad FUEL PUMP RELAY. He found the location of the pump relay in something called the Integrated Relay Controll Module, I remembered that Consumer Guide said that many '98 escorts had a defective Integrated Relay Controll Module and that it caused a hard starting problem.
I still dont know where this thing is though, where to get a new one, how to replace it etc. etc. I hope this clears things up for so many other people having the same problem, but anybody with anymore information on this would be greatly appreciated.
