saving old brushes from paint

do you have paint brushes that've been left out uncleaned, which leaves an inevitable swearing session when you return to your work area, "oh f**k i left paint on the brush and didn't clean, not it's truly ruined." we've all been there mostly with brushes that aren't too cheap either. well, now i'm going to try and help you, i've given up bothering with paint thinners and brush cleaning chemicals, i've found a new method ! the stuff you need is called EMA Plastic Weld most oif you will probably have it, if not it's available from most modelling shops. it's usually used to bond plastic it's a thin liquid with a strong solvent-like smell and i evaporates very quickly, it's applied using a paint brush, anyway back to what i was saying if your brushes are stiff with dry pain don't bother leaving it in a pot of paint thinners just dip it in Plastic Weld and soak up the liquid with some tissue, repeat this a few times then put it between your fingers and rub it slowly so all the bristles rub together this will remove all the paint as Plastic Weld eats through paint like nothing i've ever seen so keep it away from your finished pride and joy anyway hope this helps you, it's my first thread on "how to"

Would that plastic weld be basically the same as Tenax 7R?

i think it is the same as tenax 7r but i'm not completely sure, i guess that tenax is the same thing but an american version, i'm from england. but if it's almost clear, evaporates quickly and smells strongly of something like nail varnish remover and is used the melt palstic together then i think so

I think that's it then, I left the bottle open by accident and in five minutes, like 1/8th of the bottle was gone!! Good Stuff though...

well i've had two bottle, one ispilt about half of it onto my modelling desk so i went to get some tissue and when i came abck it had dissappeared, i had no idea how the liquid i spilt had gone so i was amazed and silently relieved but after a minute or so the top or my desk (which is covered in soft rubber) began to melt and i saw my shiny new 350z get bonded to it, it's still there today!

Try this stuff....it works fantastic for deep cleaning, and conditioning brushes. I swear by it.

every once and a while i blow tenx-7r
through my air brush. cleans the crap out
of it. ive gotten laquer out with the stuff
it's wild!!!
