Unhappy Buying off eBay?

I'm looking for a new car. preferably a late 90's prelude. Seeing that my city has probably about 2 for sale (both are late 80's) i've turned to looking out of state etc. My question is, has anyone bought off ebay? Is it a good idea? stuff like that.

Re: Buying off eBay?

There are alot of cons on ebay, I've heard of a few people that got ripped off..plus I would never buy anything that I and/or a competant mechanic hadn't driven and looked at first. My suggestion would be to try www.autotrader.com, they have nice search features to help you limit or expand your criterion and find the car that suits you, plus it's free and just helps you locate the car, so you can actually see/drive/buy it in person.

Re: Buying off eBay?

I agree. I'd never buy a car without driving it.
You could also try www.carsdirect.com
Good Luck in your search

Re: Buying off eBay?

A friend of mine bought a Porsche off eBay...weird experience. She still has a lingering feeling that she bought it from the mafia.

I found my car through www.edmunds.com > www.autotrader.com
