Need help with shift knob

I have a 2004 and I searched the forum and Ive seen threads where theres a clip to pull out then the shift knob comes up and Ive seens a thread where it just pulls up without a clip. I dont see any clip and Ive tried to pull up on the shift knob and it just doesnt budge at all. Someone please help

OK I got it off with some plyers and a towel over it without any damage. Had to take the thing off that protects it from going into reverse to get the new shifter on.

I got a 03 Cavy and how did u get manual shifter off?

Thats what I did on my 5 speed I just used a towel and some pliers and pulled and twisted and it finally came off. I would think the 03 would be the same as the 04

Someone help me 2. I have an 04 cav. and the shift knob wont come off i dont know how u guys used your plyers but mine wont come off. One more question. Can I put in a new shift knob with out having to use the clip that you need 2 pull up? and how would i do that? please help. thanks.
