Check engine light
Hey everyone... The check engine light on my 96 GST is on.. I took it to autozone and they told me it was a p1400(auxilary emmisisons) code and that they didnt know how to fix it. Anybody have any tips for me?? I have heard that it could be the BOV or my AVCR. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Check engine light
sorry to get a little off topic but i see you live in Lacrosse... ever come up to Winona? thats where i am from! i am actually in lacrosse quite a bit! hit me up on AIM - RST Eclipse GST and maybe we could meet up if you need help with your car!
as for the problem, it could be from your 2nd O2 sensor (right behind the cat) but i am not positive if you will get a CEL for that... it could even be your front O2 sensor! i'll do a search quick to see if i can find out what that code means other than emissions! |

Re: Check engine light
ran a search this is what i came up with...
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...ighlight=p1400 Kevin...aka 95_GSXracer... is a well known and respected guy on this site and he knows quite a bit of info on these cars... and i see that Joemathews said that Kevin confirmed it was a intake manifold sensor! what you should do is look at all the connections and wires on your intake manifold and see if any are loose or disconnected... if so, there's your problem, if not the only 2 sensors i can think of on the manifold itself are the MAP sensor (manifold area pressure) and the EGT sensor (exhaust gas temp) <<< that is located under the trottle body, bolted to the bottom left side of the intake manifold, one of your vacuume lines could have fell of causing the CEL! good luck... and if you need any further help dont be afraid to ask! |

My 2001 Firebird was throwing a EVAP code turned out to be a bad gas cap.

Re: Check engine light
I had the same problem with my check engine light going off and it turns out it was the front O2 sensor. After that was replaced the rear one when out too. Oh well. But shes all good with both sensors replaced.
