replace valve seals
Has anyone replaced the valve seals on their engine before? If so how and how hard is it, i was quoted at like 6 hours from a shop, so that'd probably mean like 10 for me, but its worth it not to waste the money. I can get the seals for a decent price cause i know a guy at the dealership. Problem is i have no idea where to start, anyone have advice?

I did mine. It wasnt that hard really at all. Your supposed to need all these special tools and shit too but my teachers at school taught me how to do it quick and easy. Took me like half an hour to do them (head was already off) Take a look in the manual and see if it looks like something you might be able to do.

Re: replace valve seals
I just did them last week with the head ON the car (DOHC ZC by the way). It took me 8 hours (woulda been 1, but I lost a valve retainer collet thing, searched for 7 hours and ended up finding it in a small pool of oil behind a valvespring, after dropping the oil pan). If your by yourself then your gonna need the following tool: http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/SP-91400.html . It makes compressing the springs with one person a breeze. Definetly worth the $$ but there are other ways to go about removing them to. I also used a magnet so I wouldnt lose the valve retainer collets. To keep the valves from falling into the cylinder, stuff nylon rope into the cylinder you will work on, then rotate it towards TDC till it wont rotate anymore. My valve seals were $26.00 for all 16 for a DOHC ZC. I was quoted from a few local shops anywhere from $280-350 to do the job.
