Which intake? Which Y-pipe?

exactly what the title says. i dunno which intake or y-pipe to get, and which i should get first, if it matters. if anyone knows anything about either it would be greatly appreciated if you could help me out with which to get, and any links to where i could pick one up...from what i gathered, surfing around forums, CAI's are supposed to be the cheapest and most useful first mod on the car, but then i surf around on some websites and see CAI's for like 350 bucks...any help is apreciated...thanks

Re: Which intake? Which Y-pipe?

Get the y-pipe first. Brand doesn't really matter. If you live in an area where it snows, get a stainless steel one rather than aluminized steel. Power gains are huge and cost is only $200-$300. IMO, an intake on the Maxima is worthless. If you get a true CAI, you'll notice better responsiveness in stop-n-go traffic but no HP gains really. If you want another mod, get an ECU upgrade; it's worth around 12whp throughout the entire RPM range.

Re: Which intake? Which Y-pipe?

Both Technosquare and Jim Wolf Technologies (JWT) have aftermarket ECUs for the Maxima. Cost is around $600 unless you can get in on a group deal (I think there's one being setup at maxima.org right now). I got mine for $380 from Technosquare and it's well worth the price; even full retail.

Re: Which intake? Which Y-pipe?

ya cattman y-pipe is good. doesn't have that "hiss" sound like that of stillen. i guess it is real quite also. intake probably has the most added hp. and a chip would really help.
