Is this a decent find

I have been looking for a 7 for awhile and reading your forums as well as others for some time. I found for sale near me a 1987 RX-7 GXL a little beat up looking for $2700. He has put a cold air intake and a few other small modifications too it. I am more than likely going to do a N/A to TII engine swap after saving enough and learning a whole lot more, the suspension is "broken" as in its stuck in "sport" mode which i didnt consider to be that big of a deal. he said he has replaced the belts several times and put a perfomance clutch in becuase he burnt out the other. It drove nice when i took it around and everything appeared to be in place and fairly taken care engine wise. Should he come down on price because the outside it dinged to hell and the interior is ripped apart ? I personally dont care just wondering if i should ask him to come down a little. He also said there is some transmission work done on it and i am going to inquire a little more on that. It has been for sale on a busy street for about 2 months. Any ideas? thank you in advance.

well can picture the car by the way you discribed, and I think the price is too hi . it look more bad stuff the good. but if you can do a compresion check or have a mechanic do it for you . make sure 5th and 6th ports are opening, no leaks on oil colant all that stuff . not smoking etc etc.

Re: Re: Is this a decent find

thank you for all the replies, it is on its second engine, so the mileage seemed a little trivial, he got a new transmission because he apparently thought shifting without using the clutch was a good habit. He is not sure the mileage on the new engine nor the year. But too his credit it ran very well when i drove it.

I visited your site [http://turnstyle.now.nu/] and you seem to be having some awesome shit going on in AZ, i am hopeing to move to south CA next year(dirtbike in the desert irresistable) but thats a longgg trip for a car, regardless if you were serious about a decent project car for sale AIM:joemc04

Thank you all again, i will probably offer around 1900 for it if nothing comes along the way before payday or the next. Hope to be able to become part of the rotary club you all have got here, its all completly new to me atleast i wont throw anymore rods, heh.
