EPA Screws Up Popular Primer

Ladies and Gentlemen, due to pressure from the EPA, Floquil - model railroading-centric manufacturer of one of the finest lines of lacquer model paints - has dropped their line-up of fine lacquer paints in favor of a new "dio-sol" based brand.

This particularly effects their excellent lacquer based primer, clear coat, dull coat, and matte coat. Unfortunately, what once was an excellent primer that would not only adhere to any plastic or resin, but accept any paint atop it without crazing, is now ultimately no more. I have bought one bottle of the Dio-sol primer and doubt I will buy another.

lacquer is toxic shyte. I work with it everyday and it doesn't take very long for it to make you loopy if your not wearing a mask.

i work with acid all day, it doesn't take long to eat through your skin. but then that stuff is biodegradeable - so as long as it's safe for the environment !!

I work a lot with lacquer and acetone too. In fact, I average about two model car bodies painted a week (for slot car racing) and I use nail polish cut with lacquer thinner exclusively.

In a properly vented space, it's quite all right. I've used Floquil primer exclusively since 1996. I really am unhappy with the EPA messing around with a niche company that friggin sells model railroad paints.
