Suggestions on performace upgrades/engine swaps

going to be buying a 87-91 supra probably in the next month or so...gonna go compete project, so i am going to just buy a frame, and put what i want in lol

i have a general idea what i am going to do, the main suggestion i am looking for is what engine would go nicely in it...or should i just try and find a stock twin or single turbo

and also then what mods would you do to it

thanks

well, before turbocharging any car you would want to take precautions. I would run a compression test on all cylinders and see if the car is in working order to by modified. Then I would do som freeing up mods such as a catback exhaust. If you are that serious into turbocharging you would need to find a kit that suits you.

well my current plan is to buy a piece of junk...$500-1000 car...a shell

i have yet to decide between the supra and the mr2, but that is the plan...

the plan atm is either a supra swapped with a 1jzgte, or an mr2 with a 3sgte

any suggestions/criticism is welcome though

either car with those motors would be pretty nice rides. if your looking to go into scca id go with the mr2 but if drag is more your style then the supra would probably better suit your needs. i hear that the 7m-gte can be just as strong as a 2jz-gte if built right. but i also hear good things about the 1jz. it all depends really upon application and what you want from the car and where you want to take it.

well i basicly just want is for bragging rights...simple drag and light to light racing is primarily what this'll be used for

possibly depending on how this works out, eventually might hit tracks, but i also want to be able to cruise in it, so it will definatly have a passenger seat, and most likely a seat in back

definatly gonna be packed with electronics...so that might get a little heavy...so i doubt serious racing will be out of the question unless when i am installing stuff i make it bolt on so i can rip it out or something...

dunno

all i am trying to work out right now is what car, what year, and what engine to put in it lol

also then if you know the engine what other performance mods would be good to bolt on, or if you know any websites where people detailed what they did to their engine and their outputs that'd be even better lol
