2001 Honda Accord Transmission Recall

Hi All,

I am considering purchasing a used 2001 Honda Accord LX Model 4 door, 4 cylinder. I drove it today and it drove really good and the price is right, 11k, 39k miles, new tires, great shape etc so I put down some cash to have them hold it for pickup tommorow.

Tonight I visited some web sites and was reading about the extended warranty, 7 year 100k miles for some transmission issues with certain 2000 and 2001 Accords have been experiencing. I have some questions.

1.)Is this widespread or a 1 in a 1000 type deal?

2.)Does it apply only to certain VIN numbers or do all 2000 and 2001 accords? What would make one fail and not the other?

3.)Would the additional warranty only cover the original owner?

I must say I have a knot in my stomach. My wife says i'm worrying over nothing and not to worry about it since the car drives good and if it does break Honda will fix it.

Thanks for any advice or comments. I might be worrying for nothing but I was looking for some insight.

Thanks,

Greg

Yes its wide spread and its all not just certain vin's and last but not least it will carry over to your car. Its not only for the original owner.
