high quality rims:
Look better because of better finish
hold up to wear better (don't flake)
are stronger
balance easier

Of course the high quality rims with very light weight will help the performance of the car.

What about the shape of the rims? Do big 20 inch rims affect performance? What do you mean by flaking?

In general, a plus one size will give you the best increase in performance and handling. On most vehicles, 20" wheels are going to be for looks only. When selecting wheels, you want to make sure they are hub-centric, load rated for he vehicle, and have the correct offset for the vehicle. The quality of the finish can vary quite a bit from brand to brand. I would also stay clear of any chrome wheel finish. That process weakens the alloy of the wheels and will make them more prone to bend. You can see a complete listing of all the O.E.M. quality or better wheels we sell:

On most vehicles, anything larger than about 17" is for looks only. Also remember that the larger your wheels are, the more expensive it's gonna be to buy replacement tires.
