Car shopping under a criteria
Ok, I'm buying a new car and ridding myself of the POS 1995 Tbird. My parents tell me they want something that will make me happy as long as I pay for it and insurance is not too high. Well they keep putting their foot down on everything because it doesn't meet their criteria that I knew nothing about till now.
I want(ed) a 3Gee(1986 - 1989) Accord and a CRX. They say I can't have them because they would 'like'(MUST HAVE) airbags and can have ABS. So I'm looking for a newer Civic Hatch with driver's side airbags and possibly ABS. Any other opinions would be highly advised. Thanks guys. |

What price range are you looking into? Also what will be the main purpose of the car? Commute, autox, drag

Re: Car shopping under a criteria
Can't have an Eclipse, they'er considered sports cars. Thats another criteria, it can't be a sports car. God this is tedious. It will be to commute to school and work, and to tune too.

Re: Car shopping under a criteria
Well then your best bet would be alittle Civic Hatchback, easy to tune, swap the engine out, and your parents from exterior perspective might not even notice a difference, until you start the engine and take off. Also a 1986-1989 BMW 325I or 1986-1989 Mercedes 190E isn't that bad of an idea, not sure on the tuning potential of the cars, but hey it's something different.

Re: Car shopping under a criteria
get an old SE-R sentra or if they're a little older than you'd like get a 200sx se-r or 240sx. they're great cars but nothing spectacular, however there is a lot of potential for mods and engine swaps and can be made very fast once your parents get off your ass.
or look into a maxima. they're great slepers, especially 95-99 and are cheap nowadays.

Re: Car shopping under a criteria
They don't exist. I have a 1996 Camry V6 LE, and the only tranny option is a 4-speed auto. It's still pretty quick though, 188 hp/203 torque in a 3000-lb. body
