Heater/AC Control Switch "Issues" 98 Intrigue GL

First off, I would like to thank any and all that can help me, so thanks.

Like the title says, 98 Intrigue (3800 engine) and I am having some issues with the climate control switch/module. All the heat and AC works fine, fan knob works fine and so does the temp knob.

My problem is that it seems like it is "stuck" on defrost, as in I can't change it to "floor" or "vent" from "defrost". I push the button for floor and it lights up as if it is sending air to the floor and it continues to direct air out the defrost in the top of the dash board. I should mention that it DOES NOT have the auto climate contol. This same switch/module has been replaced in the car before but it was because the temp knob no longer worked, and I didn't need cold air in the middle of a Michigan winter.....

I have the tools and have no problems tearing into the dash to get to the module if it is bad, but I am wondering if anyone has ever seen this? Also I thought it might be possible that a stick or something is lodged in the portion of the vent system where the trap doors that direct the flow of air are located. But when switching between floor, vent..etc I cannot hear anything under the dash the would lead me to think that there was something stuck in there.

Sorry to ramble on, but I'm trying to give as much info as possible, again thanks in advance.

there is a plastic damper in the heater core box, that may crack it is moved by a hydrolic lever on the passenger side of the box it is does not move it could be jamed. they warp and crack also make shure all of youre vaccume lines are hooked up.

I have this problem too, i JUST replaced the blower fan,m and now this happens.

Is it easier to just take the damnned thing in to get repaired in a shop, or is this doable?

Also, what's with the filter up in the dash? should that be changed/removed?
