hi2uall! i'm back ... remember? lol here's my story :)
Ok i probably haven't been on this forum for about 3 months now! and wow, a lot has happened since. I *did not get a vr4 as i wanted, and soon i'll explain why. Ok where do i start .... hmmmmx0rz!
I searched allll over the place for vr4's for about 2 whole months. I did find some lol but only on the internet and soooo far away. Unfortunately the only models i'm able to afford are the 91-93, which is definitely not a bad thing, but i just luuuuuuuuv how the 94-99's look (so maybe you already know where this is going). After the 2months of searching .... i guess i kinda gave up ... then started getting into 2nd gen eclipses gst/gsx's. I think i got into them because they were even "more" affordable than vr4's, of course not as fast lol but definitely more affordable. I actually found an eclipse gst that i wanted to buy, but when i called the dealer it was um S-O-L-D lol :'(. Ok so the factors here were: 1 I could buy a 91-93 vr4, but the 94-99 styles are amazing! ... Not only that, but insurance for a vr4 is on the verge of $4,000 here in New Jersey. 2 Hm, i could buy an eclipse gst/gsx (or heck even a talon). I mean they ARE fast ... but they look absolutely nothing like 3kGT's. Then i started looking at 3000gt SL's, which i actually "could" afford the 94-99's. So basically i had to make a very tough choice. Speed vs. Looks. 91-93 vr4 / eclipse gst/gsx vs. 3000gt SL ........ So in the end ... what did i choose .......... the 3000gt SL! and here's why: I definitely wouldn't be satisfied with the style of a 91-93 vr4 (but wow they are so fast lol see ... even now i'm having 2nd thoughts lol JK! )If i had a dollar for every honda i see every day .... i would be a very rich young adult and i mean very lol if i had a dollar for every eclipse ... i'd be making a pretty good living. Now a 3000gt .... i'd be pretty damn poor. I can go days or even weeks without seeing a 3kgt on the road. The style of these cars are also amazing! lol i think that's like the 3rd time i've said that. Well this is how the story ends. I went searching from car dealer to car dealer for a 3000gt *not even a vr4, and i couldn't even find any! Not one 3kgt! Even one dude at a dealer told me: "I havent seen those in 4 years man! Listen, save yourself the shopping and look on the internet." So that's exactly what i did. The very first day i found 4 around my area. All 4 were available but the one that struck my attention most was a 1995 3000gt SL for $7,000 that was in Excellent condition, in New York. I immidiately got in contact with the seller, and i went to look at the car yesterday. EXCELLENT CONDITION. This guy really took care of his car, him and his whole family. Clean clean clean, engine bay, interior, the leather (except for the driver's seat which is common) the body is in excellent condition, i actually didn't even find one scratch . So, i found my car! I'm waiting on it and it should take 2 weeks till i get it here, in Jersey and when i do i'll take some pics. He's also giving me 2 dual 4'' mufflers , and a momo racing steering wheel priced at $200 and a nice sound system. He also has a wing on the car and rims. The only thing i plan on changing is the "GTO" emblem he put on the back lol simply bc i dont want TT supras or rx7's siding up to me to race .... i'd rather change it back to "3000gt" and have honda civics siding me much much better lol! I've already been trash talked by my friend who owns a honda civic He's like: Yea go get a gt n u'll see me rippin it by you ...... i was just like: Ok 3000gt SL's are slow, but not THAT slow buddy. So simmer down. lol k - hi to you all again and i hope u liked my essay lol peace* pround owner of a 1995 3000gt SL

thx
yea man i'm gonna take soooooooo much good care of her. The owner had a bomex front lip installed.http://www.bomexaero.com/images1/gto/ad340.jpg The front of the car is really low so i have to be careful around surfaces, especially speed bumps and such, duh right? lol but i want to drive around care free . Soooo i think i might buy an air suspension kit? Does anyone have any knowledge on these? I mean they "would" add lift to my car right? I saw some suspensions and controllers and i did the math. The whole thing will probably run me at about $500, but i think it's worth it. I DO NOT want to experience that feeling of "scraping a speed bump" ugh ... i dont even wanna know what that feels like lol. I will ask the seller, but does anyone know if that bomex lip could be removed so that way the body could be completely stock? Air suspension http://www.performancesuspension.com/TruckAirSuspen.htm Would these do the trick? I was looking at the "best" complete control kit. Adjusts front-to-rear or side- to-side, inflates springs individually. $373 And the "Ride Control" suspension springs. $194 Now i know all that money can go towards mods, but ... better safe than sorry right? Plus u gotta admit .... it is kinda cool to have the ability to uplift and down your car in all directions ![]() Also, probably in 2 months i want ummmmmm a White Metallic Pearl paint job! p.s. I wub all 3000gt's. What they have in common is that they all turn heads like <-----------------|---------------->

Re: hi2uall! i'm back ... remember? lol here's my story :)
You know what? From the picture, it seems as if the front bottom lip is just an add-on. I know that some kits that are sold have the whole bumper plus the lip together but from the bomex kit looks just like an add-on. Not completely sure but I'm just guessing..... But if that's the case then yeah, you should be able to take it off by removing a couple screws. My buddy has some add-ons and you just gotta find the screws that are holding them....unless if they're like glued on or something.

Congrats man and welcome back.
I'm 90% sure that you can remove that lip pretty fast. But thats pretty nice lookin...i mean i think the best lookin 3kgt is stock but i hate body kits and stuff like that on our cars. But thats the first one i have seen that i like. Good luck.

Re: hi2uall! i'm back ... remember? lol here's my story :)
Um, I'll just toss this in there, about the air suspension...notice how the link ends in the words 'truck air suspension'. Lift kits are common on trucks...not sports cars, sports cars generally wish to decrease height rather than add it on.
As far as something like that available for 3000gts, well I've seen Tein Flex coilovers and electronic dampering controller so you can adjust the height from inside the cabin...but that is close to 2,000 not including installation. Plus that is only made for the vr4. JIC has adjustable coilovers, but I don't think they are electronically controlled. There you are still looking at $1,750. http://www.3sxperformance.com/suspension-vertical.asp To top that all off, I don't think they make the car any higher than stock settings, only lower it or raise it back to stock ride height. Personally, I don't want to rain on your parade, but I've never heard of anyone doing the lift kit like you are talking about on a 3000gt. On the other hand, the stock ride height is rather high, I have yet to bottom out my vr4 and I've taken it up some damn high driveways. If you are careful in your driving, I don't think you will bottom out the front(although I don't know how much lower that front lip is) I think safe driving would be fine. Just my .02, and if I'm wrong anywhere, someone please correct me.

I agree with Igovert. I think the 3000GT is a sport car with true sport car quality such as good suspension and aerodynamics. If you do what you are suggesting and air ride it.....you will totaly kill the sharp handeling and high grip that our cars dish out. Air bags are for people who care more about looks and dont give a hoot about performance, people who put spinners on sport sedans and 180 lbs systems on thier mini trucks. think of all the extra wieght from the air compressors. I have a 94 and its on $250 Eibach prokit, 1 inch drop. My car has never bottomed out and it never will cause of the ultimately high spring ratio. I respect your style and taste, I stand behind all 3KGT owners, think wisely, you cant do high manuvering on a airkit like this one. Congats on your new car man, hope to see some pics soon.

Glad to see you back and getting a 3000GT. The SL has all the style of the VR4 and the performance isn't bad at all. Hope to see those pics soon

thx guys!
yea, i guess i'll just have to drive safely. I would definitely not want to ruin my gt's performance or handling in anyway. So here's a question. I was catching up on all the forum topics and i read one about mufflers/exhaust/cats. The seller is giving me 2 4'' Dual mufflers. I'd have to get my pipes done, but .... then wouldn't i lose power just like everyone else i have read about? My friend also told me that huge mufflers = great loss of power. Should i just like .... sell the dual mufflers or is there a way i can install them without great loss of power or without any power loss at all, bc they look amazing ....

Re: hi2uall! i'm back ... remember? lol here's my story :)
That is a good question that i dont know the answer to and a question i would have asked myself. I'm thinking about just buying a VR-4 stock cat-back for my base. But i'm selling it in alittle over a year so i dont know how much money i want to put in to it. The only thing i fear is buying a VR-4 cat-back may have rust on it and stuff. So it may sound better but if i'm buying something new/used but new to my car i want it to be better then what i'm replacing something with little to on rust.

Ok i found the muffler the seller is giving me. I'm 90% sure these are the exact same ones bc i was holding it in my hands about 2days ago, but to be really sure i'd have to ask him. They are huge! Now is there any way of installation that would prevent a great power loss or prevent power loss altogether?
I would sell them, but i really want to get them installed, probably when i get the car asap. They're really mean lookin'! ![]() http://www.2kracing.com/product_info...oducts_id/3533 Oh and btw i asked him about the Bomex front lip and yep u guys were right it Can be removed . I'll most likely remove it in the winter.

Re: hi2uall! i'm back ... remember? lol here's my story :)
OK, well first off it mentions 2.5in pipes going to the mufflers, so I am assuming the inlet is 2.5 and the outlet is 4in or whatever. If you get a custom built catback at your local exhaust store, just bring in the mufflers and tell them you want a 2.5in mandrel bent catback, they will build and install it all for about $200 most likely. At 2.5in you wont lose dramatic low-end torque, perhaps some, but not too bad, you should be fine.
Secondly, my question to you is, those 2 mufflers look like they are welded together in the picture...if that is the case, how the hell are you putting them on your car? Something with that big of an exit would fit one on each side of your back bumper where the stock exhaust comes out, but not side by side like they are pictured.

the picture is of a single muffler with two tips. So is that all e is giving you? or are you really getting two mufflers for a total of four tips? and yeah 4" outlet is huge! but if you have a 2.5 inch inlet then you should be ok, just do what Igovert said. you will only loose a little low end torque but gain horsepower up on the high band.
