I just bought a '95 Mustang GT 5.0 with 44,000 miles and has a Paxton supercharger on it. Along an MSD ignition box and Blaster 2 coil, Paxton Fuel regulator, and K&N filter. Now I have never driven a mustang GT before and I don't know how fast a stock GT feels. But I don't know if the car is running right. I raced a stock '90 Mustang GT the other night and we were neck and neck. Now the next day I did find out the K&N filter was badly dirty, so I recleaned it. But that shouldn't have made that big of a difference, should it? I also have a stock exhaust system. I was think of putting a off road x-pipe from Flowmaster and an aftercat DynoMax muffler system in. Will this help since the blower is pushing more air into the engine. And also I was thinking of leaving the stock headers on. How good or bad of an idea is that. I don't understand how a stock '90 GT could keep up with me. So I don't know what else to look at right now before changing the exhaust. Please help me.
Now for the gears. I do some interstate driving a couple times a month so I was thinking of putting 3.55 gears in. Is that a good all around gear? And could someone please tell me what the stock gears are in my car. I can't find an answer anywhere. Any help telling me why my car doesn't seam to run like a supercharged car and any of the above questions will be very much appreciated. Thanks |

ok if you really wan tto make your car run right you are going to have to swap computers the computers in the 94-95 5.0l suck, they retard the timing between shifts, over 3200 rpm and over 97 mph, they also have a shitty a/f curve
this is what you need to do go to your local speed shop tell them you want to do a computer conversion you will need a PIH kit which has a wiring harness, sensors, and a fan controller... an A9L computer from a 89-93 5.0L and a mass air meter for that computer... this will bring you as much as 40 hp. and is the best mod i have done on my 2 1995 cobras

You might need to have it tuned up... Maybe you should have it dynod so they can tell you if it's getting enough fuel and everything is okay. When I put the D1 Procharger on my 95 SVT Cobra It was running real lean wich I had a shop find out the reasons why and they told me to get a 255 Fuel pump because the stock one was not working good enough for a supercharged car and I needed bigger Injectors because 24lb weren't enough. So I got 42lb. Injectors and then I needed a 75mm Mass air that was for the 42lb. Injectors. I did all that and the car ran Great... Loads more power. I would have also basically blew my engine if I had'nt added that stuff so becareful and get a local Motorsports shop to check it out for you. Also , do you have a boost gauge and a fuel pressure gauge? How much boost is it running?

Well you did say that you have never driven a mustang before and that probably made a bigger difference than anything else.Other than that the other guys have some good ideas but also since you bought this car modified you have no idea of what kind of shape the tune is in or what else or lack there of was upgraded.
The car is most probably running too rich (Im asumingthe previous owner was smart enough to upgrade the fuel system other than just an adj regulator and people tend to get to carried away with jacking up the fuel pressure anyway) but speaking of the regulator what is your fuel pressure set at? you do have boost and fuel pressure gauges right? Leaving the stock headers would be a bad move but adding the off road pipe and cat back kit would be a good idea. Given that the air filter was that dirty the previous owner may have let many other things with the car lapse so the best thing you can do is have the car run on a chassis dyno and data log it to really see what kind of condition (not to mention how much power its making) the car is in.Just throwing on a blower does not a fast car make-trust me I know Oh yeah,3:55 gears are a great all-around gear choice and if your gears are stock I would bet there are probably 3:08's. Re: '95 Mustang GT w/supercharger. Need advise.
Not to be a stickly, and I do like the fact we're getting new blood in here, but this thread was started 3 years ago. Let's try to keep to threads no older then 3 months.
