fuel pump question
my car would stall every once in a while usualy during a turn whether slow or fast. the car would just die as if it lost its fuel pressure. now it wont start at all. it will crank all day long but no start. i changed the fuel pump, fuel pump relay, fuel filter, spark plugs, inertia switch, and still no start. i only have about 4 to 5 volts at the inertia switch for the fuel pump. how much voltage should be going to the pump in order for it to start? i also dont get the fuel pump priming sound to let me know the system is pressurized. the pump works i can put direct 12 volts to it but i cant figure out why the car wont start. any sugguestions?

did you check the eec, I had the same problem turns out my eec was bad, i changed everything just as you did too. just a thought

I am having a similar problem. I just changed my pump relay and the pump itself. My pump will come on some of the time but not always. Is that normal? It seems that I am not getting enough fuel pressure, but I'm not sure. The manual says to put in at least 10 gal. of gas after changing the pump. Is that really necessary? I only put in 5. Well, good luck and please let me know how it goes.

I checked my voltage today and I am getting 5 volts at the inertia switch and 2.8 volts at the fuel pump. My manual said that voltage to the pump should be within .5 volts of the battery voltage. I can't figure out why it is low.

I recommend starting with installing a fuel pressure gauge at the schrader valve on the fuel rail. I had a fuel filter and fuel pump problem. The gauge was the best thing I did to further troubleshooting and performance tuning. If you want to find out if you're actually getting fuel to the injectors, this is the test to do.
My neighbor had a problem with his '94 Mustang not starting. He was using the spare key to start it. It would turn over but not start. Turns out that the original key also controlled the computer (ignition, fuel pump, injectors). Maybe this applies, maybe not but it's something to think about. Al
