bad wheel bearings?????????
i just put on new axles on my 90 hb and after about 100 miles i'm now strating to hear a grinding or howling noise coming from the front, it only makes the noise about 30mph and higher and gets louder as i speed up. i tighten the axle bolt cause it was loose and still makes the noise. could it be my wheel bearings or did i tighten the bolt too much???????

Re: bad wheel bearings?????????
could be wheel bearings or even your rotors if smells a little brake smell...most likely its wheel bearings, i dont think you can really over tighten the axle bolt cause i just put it on with impact wrench till it stops all the time....so just take of front wheels check out wheel bearings they scratch then there done with....maybe you get better info form somone else on here today

The exact same thing happened to me. I got my drivers side cv axle replaced and not even two days later it started making noise at about 30 or 40 mph. Get it fixed as fast as you can because it only gets worse. I went to the place where i got my axle replaced and they quoted me 210 installed. which was bullshit so i got it done at my dads shop for like 50 dollars.
