Re: really a better oil???

I dont really see why it would make your engine last any longer. Look how many miles some people get out of their cars just by using conventional oil.

Re: really a better oil???

Yeah.. It depends a lot more on how often the oil is changed, and how the car is driven.. Which in ANY of our cases.. Isnt very good..

Ever heard of the Penzoil truck?? Some guy got like 900,000 kms on a Chev 1/2t without even looking at the engine (aside from regualr tune-ups and more than frequent oil changes) He always used Penzoil so Penzoil bought him a new truck and took his old one

Re: really a better oil???

i treat it the best out of all mine, like i never abuse it until the engine gets warm, i dont really press it all the way down all the time, and until it gets good on the highway then i push it down... and i mostly do donuts on water so it doesnt really hurt the engine...

Re: really a better oil???

dude, oil lasts much longer than any of us think. we set up most new corvettes with mobile one for a 4 month 4000 mile period, and they still come in with 30% oil life remaining. chaning your oil every 2000 miles is just waisting natural resources.

Re: really a better oil???

It'll be a 50/50 mix of Crisco and "I can't believe it's not Butter". Don't want too much cholorestoral in my car ya know.

Re: really a better oil???

I use Royal Purple in the car and Mobil 1 In the truck. both are about the same IMO, but Mobil 1 is easier to get. 89iroc is correct, New oils (even conventional oils) last much longer than the old 3 month/3,000 mile rule. I usually change mine when it starts looking dirty in the car since I do not drive it much. I go by the oil life monitor in the TB and it goes to almost like 7500 miles! The more important thing when it comes to Oil changes though.....DON'T SKIMP ON THE FILTER! A good filter is very important!

Re: really a better oil???

Since I use Mobil 1 I just use their filters too... am I being suckered into paying almost $12 for an oil filter or is it worth it?
