the 15g??

Ok so i am peiceing together my turbo kit, and ive found a mitsubishi super 15g turbo. Now i know the 14b is stock and the 16g is a great turbo, but what about the super 15g is it any good? or should i pass

Typically better to pass on the oddball Mitsu turbos, like the 15g (though its very popular on the 3S cars), 17c, 19c, etc. They just dont seem to add up. Plus parts will be harder to find if you need to replace a wheel or something.

Ahh right thanks for the info, If its popular on the 3s's i take it that meens its kinda small for a stand alone unit, cuz they use twin turbos. And if its kind of small and hard to find parts for well thats no good

Oops i frogot to ask, what about the garet T25 that is one that im seeing alot of. All though 99.999999% of you stock turbo guys only run mitsu turbos so you probly wouldent know about the garets

Lol, it's ironic you say that about the T25 because it is in fact the stock turbo on the 2g turbo DSMs If you're turboing your N/A DSM, then I wouldn't go with the T25 seeing as how it's such a small turbo. If I were you, I'd go with a small or big 16g.

Really? well then that is weird. i diddent think mitsubishi being a turbo maker them selfs and one of the best turbo makers at that, would use garets.

Any how though that isent important, So basicly though since i cant really find a 16g in any kits if i go with the t25 will the 16g fit on the same exaust manifold? and will the same down pipe work?

yeah it will bolt onto the same exhaust manifold, but the mitsu turbos need an install kit on a 2g, as in, different compressor housing angle, and water/oil lines.

Get a 14b, way cheaper and more common than 16g and much better than t25.

The "special" version of the T25 has the same flange as the mitsu turbos, but a full garret t25 will not. Be sure you know which one you are getting. I Think for most turboed NA cars, a smaller sized turbo like 14b to 16g is ideal. No point in running a turbo good to 30 psi at 10. But if you have internals done and all that, go on the bigger side. Your best bet is to choose the turbo first on supporting mods you have/will get, second on your power goals since the turbo will ultimately be the limiting factor for most people once the car is set up properly.

go with the T25 if you got stock internals!!! trust me on this, i went with the 14b and i wish i would have gotten a T25... it was a bitch to make the intercooler piping since the outlet is on the top of the turbo instead of on the bottom like the T25, plus if you have stock internals you will never notice a difference in the 2 turbos cause you will never max either one out!

Well you see, I am rebuilding the engine and turboing it, So i am going to put in new rods and pistions, just because this is the 1 time i will have my engine out and open, So i might as well do it now. But i dont really plan on useing more then 16psi ever. i want probly 8psi or as low as i can go for daily use and 10psi (for now) for racing.

Witch brings me back to the 15g, I was looking on a sealth site about turbos and they said make psi for the 15g is 21-23psi (with their twin turbo set up) so i did the math and i figure max psi on a 2.0 should be around 16.6psi witch is perfect. (im sure the max psi for the t25 and 14b are on here so i wont ask ill search like a good boy)

I am just attracted to it because they have a good deal, brand new manifold, 15g turbo, and the down pipe for $399. But im not sure if it has a waste gate and there are no fittings.

Too risky. I would go with a 14b for 16 psi. 16 psi is the max a 2 liter should run with a t25, but its well within the 14b range.

How much does a T25 turbo setup cost around? Also include labor since I never did a turbo installation myself and don't know much about it. This way I get an idea so I don't over pay. I'm thinkin about it because you people say I can run that on stock internals which is good since I can't afford aftermarket ones anyway... will that be enough for a goal of 220whp? [I know, a low goal, but I'm dirt poor]. Also one more question... what do you guys think about higher cr pistons and larger cams for a all-motor setup, will that reach 220whp with the 420 engine.

you will be able to see 220hp on the stock internals!!! 10psi on stock internals will get you those numbers just fine!
