crx CEL what's this code? help please

Hi everyone.


My crx has a problem where when you first start it up it backfires and doesn't rev up at all..let it warm up and runs fine around town..on highway CEL comes on and it has trouble getting over 3-4k rmps just stops and starts backfiring. I thought I had this solved because I had a bad O ring and oil was getting on one of my plugs and my timing was abit off... so today it did it again on the highway and I'm like WTF. so I finally stop being lazy and pull up the carpet and look at the ECU. This is what it blinks

Blinks once..slight pause..then blinks 16 times

What is this code? I really need to get this resolved ASAP so anyone who can tell me this code I'de be very appreciative..couldn't find it on search either.

EDIT: okay from what I've gathered code 16 is ignition output signal and code 17 is fuel injectors. That sounds about right.

But is it even a code 17? there's definatly a slight pause after the 1st blink..then 16 in succession

Did you check to see if the rotor button is on tight? They are notorious for that.

You mean on the distributor..? I don't think that would throw that code..I really just want to find out for sure what code that is. I think it might be 2 seperate codes..because the pause..maybe a code 1 and a 16 which would be..O2 sensor..and fuel injector (??)

Someone more enlightened than myself on codes please post.

check your timing... and i donno if its just my freak car or not but when my rotor scerw fell out (god only knows how many times) it would through a code 16. now i thought it was from the mad back fire i get coming out of the intake... so i just reset the ecu and its fine(after fixing the rotor..duh)... so check your timing (could have slipped a tooth) and reset the ecu and see what happens

my timing is not off a tooth, like I said in my 1st post: that's what I thought originally - that wasn't it. And I can smell fuel

Yeah the on, then pause, then 16 means a code 1 and a code 16. And ur dizzy can give you a LOT of codes. Remember, dizzy = electrics, when its fucked it means ur electrics are fucked, and also the signals flying round ur engine.

okay thanks slave..just wanted to make sure it was 2 seperate codes.. I'm gonna try some injection cleaner and if that doesn't work I might try a new dizzy..i dunno. About how much do they cost?

reset the ecu or the codes will not go away... (just saying that making sure you know)

I just reset it.. but they'll probably come back next time I drive it. lol. But I get paid on Monday so then I can start trying those things.
