Paint problem?

Hey, I had one of my first problems in a year today.I just painted my Escalade. After a few coats I notice that the red paint didnt go in the Panel lines and door cracks. What did I do wrong? Maby mike you would know this?Or maby I should start searching again for another hour.

Re: Paint problem?

Did you use primer and how long did you wait between coats?
Sometimes when applied to thick and to soon after another coat the paint has trouble "sticking" to these places.
Allow longer time between coats so it gives the paint enough time to dry and also very light mist coats works better untill you can apply a "wet" coat

Re: Paint problem?

Also, did you wash the model with a soft toothbrush and some dish soap before you primed it?

Re: Paint problem?

What kind of primer did you use? If you used a regular old can of primer from Wally-World or Duplicolor its most likely an enamel primer. Often times the base coat is an acrylic-lacquer instead. The problem being that enamel cringes and shrinks (more than normal) when an acrylic-lacquer, or any lacquer for that matter, is applied over the paint.

Please list the paints you used.
