Angry 1989 Sunbird too much Gas

Just bought this 89 sunbird as is .... the engine was changed and now it will not start. It cranks but the carberator is blowing gas. Changed the throttle position sensor didn't help. Can anyone please shed some light on what to check next? Thanks

Re: 1989 Sunbird too much Gas

check the timing . When the timing is off , the car will backfire fuel through the carb/throttle body. Buy a repair manual and follow the proceeddure for proper timing mark alignment. IF you have any question as to whether the belt has been changed, change it now, it's cheap insurance against a catastrophic engine failure down the road
