need a car....again...

well that accident crap is settled and i have about 5-6,000 to spend on my next car. i dont want to use all of the money just buying it, id like to have some left over for repairs or upgrades. sooooo....heres what im looking atso far. feel free to recommend something)
95-99 Integra GSR (there is a beautiful red one sitting outside my neighbors house right now)
95-99 Eclipse GS-t or GSX
95-98 VW GTI VR6(Golf)
and maybe 95-99 Civic Hatch Si(very unlikely)

all i need is something that is somewhat quick, reliable, and looks good. i dont like domestics very much...but there might be exceptions
thanks

Re: need a car....again...

All of those cars are good choices, but I'd take the Integra GS-R. The GS-T/GSX isn't all that reliable, and the GTI VR6 is a bit pricey.

oh crap, here we go again with the dsm's and reliability discussion.

anyway, i'd go with the GTI VR6 out of those choices. torque is your friend. those things are pretty damn quick and they have nice interiors and look good IMO but they won't match the gsr or civic in terms of reliability. good luck!

yeah im pretty split between the VR6 and the GSR. I really like hatchbacks, so the VR6 has got me there. Yes not to mention that wonderful 2.8L V6 I really think the GSR is a sharp car though, but not as fast as a VR6. i dont know. depends on price. i just have to wait...

oh....before i crashed my previous car...i was driving along when all of a sudden a nice black VR6 cruises by and i try to keep up....no way it was awesome. thats when i decided "i definetly need to look at those"

Re: need a car....again...

VR6 has torque and you can slap a turbo on it and easily get 380fwhp w/o touching the internals

But the GSR would edge out the VR6 in handling...

Re: need a car....again...

I have driven so many VR6 cars, they are great. LIke the guys say, torque is cool. They feel quick, but i would go with something that has a little bit more of a market behind it. THe Integra and the eclipse have so many more readily available parts and have a much better reputation for durability. You are more likely to find cheap upgrade parts for those two than the GTI. But what ever way you go i hope that it works out for you.

I'd go with the Eclipse GSX or the Integra Gs-r. If you do decide to go with the gs-r you already found a nice one.

Re: need a car....again...

it would be between the gsr and vr6. but like somebody said before, there isn't much aftermarket support for the vr6, so i would probably get the gsr. and plus, just my feelings, i don't care too much for vw.

Re: need a car....again...

Id go GSR, but if you can find a GST/GSX that you xcan get the records for and get it from an older person who most likely hasnt HOS's it all its life , Id go for that.

if you are looking at DSMS though, Id check to see if they have good oil pressure, Ive read oin a few articles online that one theory of the CW issue is a worn oil pump not getting oil to the thrust bearing soon enough, itis just spinning dry upon startup with all the force of the clutch against it.

it reccomended when you buy one to disconnect the clutch switch so you can start it without it and let oil flow before the thrust bearing ever gets a load, and to have the oil pump tested/rebuilt/replaced.
