4 channel amp 2 speakers

I have a 1600w amp and 2 1200w 15" subs. So if 400w is comming out of each channel, is there a way to put 2 channels into one speaker to get 800w into each speaker? MY amp also has a thing that says high input and has a white eltrical plug that has 8 colored wires coming off and stop whats that for?

Re: 4 channel amp 2 speakers

if you can give us more info on the amp (model, brand, possibly a manufacturer's link), we could be a lot more helpful.

Re: 4 channel amp 2 speakers

high input is speaker input. The white plug is what they use for some reason

the instructions should say which colors correspond to each channel. You say it's a 4 channel amp, so they prepared for it with 8 wires. You *probably* only need to hook up what they consider the front speaker level inputs (but i hav no clue of the color code). Check the book.

Make sure your amp is bridgable before you try to bridge it. This could damage the amp if its not designed to

I couldn't find anything on the internet relating to a Cuspid amp (other than a different forum's install thread).

Maybe the audio gurus (sr20, hailibane, sickvett, etc)will have something to say

Re: 4 channel amp 2 speakers

2 wires per speaker x 4 speakers = 8 wires.
if you decide to use the high (z) inputs, make a note of which wires came off of which speakers so when you fade and balance you can figure where they're supposed to go.

Re: 4 channel amp 2 speakers

High inputs are for using speaker wire as an input instead of RCA cables, if you have RCAs this will not be used. Combining 2 channels into one is USUALLY possible by bridging but very few amps are NOT bridgable. I need to know the impedance and number of coils on your subs and the power and impedance specs on your amp OR the amp name and model number before I can tell you exactly how to hook it up right.
