94 LT1 with wet weather starting issues

94 LT1 with wet weather starting issues :banghead:
So here's the story. This car hasn't failed to start, regardless of the weather, for the 5 years that I've owned it. Then, one stormy night I went out and tried to start the motor and it cranked but wouldn't start. The next day I checked for fuel pressure, which was A-OK. So I changed plugs and wires, which were kinda old anyway (What a HUGE pain that was, ESPECIALLY on the right side), thinking that maybe I just had wet wires. Now it either will still crank, but not catch, or else if it does start, it idles and revs up in neutral, but as soon as I put it in gear and try to move, it runs rough and then dies. What's up with that? It's got a brand new fuel pump, less than a year old, and doesn't get driven all that much in the warm weather, 'cause I ride the bike. I mainly need this car to drive when it rains. This car has well over 100K on it, but it WAS running pretty good. Any ideas?

look for a crack in the opti... 93-94 Optis are known for water getting in there and causing problems, but not just from sitting in rain, so look for a crack somewhere to allow excessive moisture to get in there.

Re: 94 LT1 with wet weather starting issues

you said you have over 100k I agree with deadcarny
but while your there check your waterpump for coolant leaking from the weaphole. if coolant gets on the opti spark it will ruin it and give you the same problem!
