Local truck wreck - pics

This is freaking funny.. Happened today in East Columbus, OH and my friend snapped
some pics. I had no idea power lines were that strong.

Re: Local truck wreck - pics

What the hell?

LOL

Hitting powerlines can be extremely dangerous for trucks. In some cases they can cause the tyres to explode most spectacularly.

Re: Local truck wreck - pics

There was a case here where a truck was laying gravel on a road and the tipper hit an overhead powerline. He backed off, then carried on working. About 5 minutes later 3 tyres exploded. He called a maintenance guy out, who started replacing the tyres. He replaced one, and it immediately exploded again, blowing him THROUGH a fence on the side of the road, blew out his eardrums, and broke several ribs.

They think it causes the rims to be superheated or something, I can't really remember. Was dangerous enough for them to change line striking protocol - ie, stay in the cab and call maintenance to set up warning cones all around the truck, then stay the hell away for a few hours.
