S-10 Calipers question
I am installing new pads on an S-10 and can't get them to fit over the rotor. How can I get the caliper to go in to allow them to fit?

Re: S-10 Calipers question
I use a giant "c" clamp to push the piston back into the caliper. This is the method recommended by my Haynes manual (and my uncle who taught me how to change brake pads).
BTW, don't forget to pump your brake pedal a few times after installing the new pads. Also, Haynes (and others) recommend removing the cover on the brake fluid resevoir and removing some of the brake fluid from the resevoir before pushing the piston back into the caliper. You should probably check out a Haynes or Chilton's manual, or consult with your local dealer for more detailed instructions. |
