base and sl

so the only difference between a base and a sl is interior the engines are the same right.

i think after a certain year like 97 the base was sohc but what you said is correct

Post i got the dl

91'-95' Base and SL both have the same engine a 220hp dohc with about 205ft lbs. the only difference is the standard options. from 96'-99' Base models droped to a sohc with 180hp , and the reason being is because the dodge stealth stoped production in 96 which had the 180hp sohc so mitsubishi though they could take over the sohc market. which didnt realy work. but the sl stayed the same.

96 was dohc, 97 started sohc

I have a 96 and its dohc with 222hp stock. so basically after 96 they downgraded the engines?

All SLs were 222hp DOHC
91-96 base were the same as SLs engine wise

97-99 base were 161 or 164hp (can't remember which) SOHC engines.
