I would swear I used to know this! The CL is sold in North America by Acura. In Japan it is sold as a Honda as either a Saber or an Inspire. I'm sure I used to think it was a Saber. Then I found these pictures on Honda's website from Japan:
Here is the Inspire: Here is the Saber: ![]() Both look to me like the current Acura TL. (the Saber more so) It also looks to me like the Saber photo has been altered. The background is harsher, the characters on the license plate look fake and ... something else... Anybody know better than me? |

The cars in both pics are one in the same. Pobably some photoshopping and misinformed people put that up. As for the differences between the two, don't really know. But I do know that in Japan, Acura doesn't exist. That is just in the U.S. They are all hondas over there. The U.S. just chose to make a different marque for the higher end models for Honda.

Yes, Acura is only offered in the US and Canada. The TL is exported from the US to Japan and sold as Inspire and Saber. They used to be differentiated by engines (one had a V6 and one had the inline-five). I'm not sure if that's still true.
The differences between the two seem to be subtle, especially since Honda refers to them as the "Inspire/Saber". The Inspire has a sportier blackout grille where the Inspire has a more conservative "waterfall" chrome grille. I can only guess that the two are marketed towards different buyers and, possibly, sold through different dealer channels. |
