The 3000 GT has NO chance against the Evo. You said it was AWD, well, so is the Evo. The Evo is the fastest Mitsubishi made.

Oh, if there mod VS mod, then yea I guess it dependds on what it has. But stock vs stock, like I said it has no chance against the Evo.

Maybe the driver of the Evo, was some kid who didnt know how to drive. But TRUST me, a 3000 GT, has NO chance against a Evo, in any type of race. Please check your info before posting.

i got this stuff from edmunds 3000gt 0-60 5.4 quarter mile 14.00 evo 0-60 5.3 quarter mile 13.8 now those numbes are very close so it looks like to me a vr4 could run with the evo vIII

Thats COMPLETLY wrong. The Evo 8 does a very low 13 in the quarter mile. 0-60 Mitsubishi claimed 4.6, Car And Driver got 5.0, and some magazines got a high 4. The Evo is the best car for the money (sports wise). Like I said, the Evo will spank the 3000GT.

EVO faster yes but not by much. And the EVO is not the best car for the money. You can get a VR4 for under 20k even under 15k, with the cash you would save you could mod the VR4 to kill even modded EVOs. And dont forget the VR4 is built on its own frame designed to be a sports car. Unlike the EVO who's frame is based on an economy car. True the EVO's frame is beffed up but still you cant make a donkey a horse. So in the end the VR4 should always have the upper hand. Thats just the advantage of having a frame built for a purpose.

Modding a VR4 is VERY expensive, 2 turbos, 2 I/C's....FEW folks have sucessfully made really fast VR4's over the years.
The VR4 has about 450 pounds more, which effectivly negates it's additional HP. In the 1/4 it would be very close, a drivers race. Out on the highway the late model VR4 with a top speed of 160 VS EVO 157 would be again close. Be interesting to see at what speeds each would pull on the other.

The VR4 is very hard to mod, and there is few parts out for it. So, maken it faster than the Evo is hard. And dont froget its heavy. The Evo isnt based off the lancer, its the other way around, and the Evo does handle better stock, and always gets good track times. The Evo woulds take it sock VS stock NO problem (unless its a top speed race) and mod VS mod the Evo is much easier and cheaper to mod. Oh and you can froget the price of the VR4 when it FIRST came out. It was expensive and wasnt worth the money, which is why its not made anymore. I would take the Evo.

The difference between the two cars is very great. one is a four door and the other is a 2+2 sport-coupe. Even though the 3000gt is heavier then the evo. I think it would be faster off the line then the Evo. Lets get one thing straight, the evo has a Mono-turbo 4G63 4 cylinder and the 3000gt vr4 has a Twin-turbo 6 cylinder. the power of the evo is great but its still a 4 cylinder, thus it will always lack the low-end torque the higher cylinder cars. The 3000gt has more torque than the evo, but the evo is lighter..........Kind of a give a little, take a little situation right? Not really Because the 3000gt has something the Evo does not. The Getrag tranny. probably one of the best trannys I've ever driven. Unfortunately only the 95-99 had them in the US. But then again this is my opinion. The 3000gt is quicker of the line but the evo might catch it it a quarter mile. BIG MIGHT!!!!!!

Not only that, its very hard to maintain. My friend had a 93 vr-4 and it was nice and hes done some mods to it. borla exhaust, boost controller, down pipe, hks bov and that thing made quite big differece. I believe the fastest Vr-4 is low 11s? Someone told me some guy hit high 10s but i haven't seen it.
