Compressors.
What kind of compressor should i be looking at? I was looking at regular compressors (with the tank and all) and i really dont see the point in spending the cash on that. Would a hobby compressor work? If so what kind?? I was looking at the Testors AC300 or their Mini Blue Ice thing..not sure which is better. I gotta have a pretty quiet compressor though.

Re: Compressors.
Personally I use a 28Gallon compressor and I am now upgrading to an 80gallon. However, I do use my compressor to power pneumatic grinders, sanders, paint guns, etc.
If you need it to be quiet you could look into renting a tank of CO2.

Re: Compressors.
I would also, try and look around for yard sales and stuff, and see if you could find an older compressor. My dad has two, one is basically silent, except when the first 2 seconds it starts up, it's torque jerks the platform it's mounted on, and hits the tank, just a simple "clink" and you hear nothing else.....
Also, check ebay, I've heard good things about "airbrushcity"'s compressors. Good Luck!

id imagine an Air Tank would be the exact same as a can....just bigger. I would really like a compressor. I was told at an airbrush class that the ones with a resoviour (SP) of air are more pratical...but im not so sure.

Re: Compressors.
I say go with a 75PSI 4Gallon compressor. I highly reccomend compressors with tanks.

Re: Compressors.
As in "reservoir" I think they would mean a tank. The compressor compresses the air, fills up the tank. If it has an automatic filling function, whenever you use up the majority of the air, the compressor will kick on, and fill the tank up. If not, you may just have to switch the compressor back on, no biggie. Compressors with tanks are great, because the compressor only runs once in a while, and keeps the motor cooler, and in turn, the motor will live a lot longer!
Good Luck on your decision!

Re: Compressors.
I first bought a "silent" campbell hausfled that was extremely loud. I now have a Iwata Smart jet... silent (seriously) and reliable.

Re: Compressors.
AND I heard that the set with the double action airbrush rocks! It's basically a badger clone. It's at least one way to get started with a double action...

Re: Compressors.
I have an extra "mobile" compressor (its not easy carrying around the big ones
) its 4gal up to 75PSI, and cost about $100USD. Its a little loud during the 30-45seconds that it compresses, then the tanks are full and its quiet.
