Angry 99 Cutlass power windows

The front driver-side window on my wife's car stopped working one day. Then, a few days later, it started working again. Then it would turn into weeks between working. By accident, I discovered that if I didn't roll the window all the way up(just far enough to seal it) it wouldn't quit working. It is not an issue with us, but when other people borrow it, they forget about it and roll it all the way up - thus locking it up for weeks once again. Any idea what is causing this or how to fix it? Thanks.
