Switched power in New Beetle Convertible

Car: 2004 New Beetle Convertible, auto transmission

I need to get switched power (on/off with ignition) to the center console of my NBC (the standard "Power Socket" - read: cigarette lighter - isn't switched) to power an iPod (currently < 1Amp, but probably don't want to limit myself to just this application).

Is there anything in the vicinity that I might be able to tap into (lighting harness for the shifter??), or do I need to fish a wire to the fuse box?

And, if the later:
- what fuse would be the best to tap into?
- can I get away with just running a single line for positive and tap into the grnd of something closer?

Any insight would be much appreciated!

TIA,
-Carl

Re: Switched power in New Beetle Convertible

Yep... posted there (as well as several other sites) already. Very little response anywhere. Oh well.
